Siddur Part 1 Hamapil - Tephilin

Mishne Tora Hilkoth Tephila 7:

The following eighteen declarations
of appreciation are said each day,

only if and when each one applies.
This order is merely an example.

Upon getting into bed to sleep at night, declare:

Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, our God, Ruler of all existence.
The One that causes the bonds of sleep to fall upon my eyes,
and illuminates the pupil of the eye.
May it be Your highest will Sacred One, my God,
that You free me from a bad attitude, and from a bad mishap,
and may I not be disturbed by bad dreams or bad thoughts,
and may my bed be perfect before You,
and raise me up from it in life and peace,
and may You illuminate my eyes so I do not die in sleep.
Appreciated! You are the Sacred One,
the One who illuminates all the world.

Read the first parasha of Qiryath Shema`

If overcome by sleep, only the first line,
or "verses of compassion"

'Listen, Yisrael; the Sacred One is our God –
the Sacred One is utterly singular.' (Devarim 6:4)
The idea of the glorious majesty of the One
is appreciated for all eternity.
Love the Sacred One your God with all your heart,
all your soul, and all your potential.
Keep these words which I instruct you today upon your heart.
Review them often with your children, speaking of them
when you are sitting in your house, walking on the way,
when you lie down, and when you rise.
Bind them for a sign upon your hand -
and they will be reminders between your eyes.
Write them upon the doorposts of your house and your gates.

Upon awakening in the morning in bed:
My God! The creative soul
which You have placed within me is pure.
You created it, You formed it,
You breathed it into me and You guard it within me;
You will eventually take it from me
and return it to me in a coming time.
All the while that the creative soul is within me,
I will thank You Sacred One, my God, Master of all deeds.
Appreciated! You are the Sacred One,
the One that returns souls to lifeless bodies!

Upon hearing the sound of a rooster:

Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, our God, Ruler of all existence.
The One that gives the rooster understanding
to discern between day and night!

Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, our God, Ruler of all existence,
clothing the naked!

Upon covering the head:

Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, our God, Ruler of all existence,
crowning Yisrael with beauty!

Upon passing the hands over the eyes:

Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, our God, Ruler of all existence,
opening the eyes of the blind!

Upon sitting up in bed:

Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, our God, Ruler of all existence,
releasing the confined!

Upon lowering the legs to the ground:

Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, our God, Ruler of all existence,
stretching the earth over the waters!

Upon standing:

Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, our God, Ruler of all existence,
straightening those who are hunched over!

Upon washing the hands:

Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, our God, Ruler of all existence,
that sanctified us with instructions
and instructed us regarding lifting the hands!

Upon washing the face:

Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, our God, Ruler of all existence,
the One that causes sleep to pass from my eyes
and slumber from my eyelids.
May it be the highest will, Sacred One,
my God and God of my ancestors,
that You habituate me to fulfilling instructions
and not to transgressing them;
that You cause my positive attitude to rule over me
and not my negative attitude;
and strengthen me in Your instructions,
and grant me my portion in Your Tora,
and that I will be marked for
grace, kindness, and mercy in Your eyes
and in the eyes of all who see me;
and that You will reward me with Your loving goodness.
Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, bestowing loving goodness!

Before entering a bathroom:

Honor yourselves, honored sacred ones, servants of the Most High;
guard me and wait for me, until I enter and exit,
for this is the customary way of human beings.

After exiting the bathroom:

Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, our God, Ruler of all existence,
that formed the human being with wisdom,
and created us with many cavities and passages,
some of them open and some of them closed;
and if one of them should be unduly closed or opened,
we would be unable to stand for even one moment.
Appreciated! You are the Sacred One,
healing all flesh and doing marvelous things!

Upon tying one's belt:

Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, our God, Ruler of all existence,
girding Yisrael with strength!

Upon putting on one's shoes:

Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, our God, Ruler of all existence,
who has provided all that I need!

Upon going out on your way:

Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, our God, Ruler of all existence,
the One who affirms a person's steps!

Everyday, one says the following three
declarations of appreciation (women say the first two):
Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, our God, Ruler of all existence,
who has not made me a gentile!
Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, our God, Ruler of all existence,
who has not made me a slave!
Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, our God, Ruler of all existence,
who has not made me a woman!

Upon wrapping one's self in the Tallith:

Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, our God, Ruler of all existence,
that sanctified us with instructions
and instructed us to wrap ourselves in SiSith!

Upon putting on Tephilin:

One should not interrupt between placement of
the tephilin on the arm and that of the head

Appreciated! You are the Sacred One, our God, Ruler of all existence,
that sanctified us with instructions
and instructed us to put on tephilin!
